Senator Tom Casperson visits SHS

We had a very special guest in our school this month. Senator Tom Casperson visited with each classroom and shared his perspective on being an elected official and how his faith helps shape his decisions. He asked the students what laws they would change if they were legislators and discussed the upcoming presidential election with the third- and fourth-grade students. He also said this about his visit:

“Yesterday I had the privilege of visiting and spending the day at the Sacred Heart School in L’Anse. I was so impressed with the students and the staff, and it was great to get an inside look at how these kids spend their school day, including how they incorporate faith into their studies” said Casperson. “The students were bright, polite and interested in learning about state government. Observing and interacting with such thoughtful students and such dedicated staff should give Michigan real hope. I’d like to thank Principal Miron for the opportunity and thank her staff for their commitment and effort in providing the children of Baraga County with an exceptional education environment.”

Thank you, Senator Casperson!

Can Drive!

pop cans

Our 7th- and 8th-grade students are holding a can drive this month to raise money for their retreat to the Diocese of Green Bay in May. Returnable cans and bottles can be dropped off at school Monday through Friday during regular hours through the end of April. If you live in the L’Anse or Baraga area and would like to have your cans picked up, please call the office at 524-5157. Thank you for your support!
