Annual Authors’ Tea and Art Show

Our annual Authors’ Tea and Art Show was held last Friday, April 28. Student authors read their books to their classmates, staff members, and friends and family; student artwork was on display throughout the school. Cookies, punch, and tea were enjoyed by all! Visit our Facebook page for more pictures of the event.

We Have a New Mission Statement!

Many thanks to our Catholic Identity committee and our school council for their hard work in creating a new mission statement for us to live by: Sacred Heart School integrates faith and reason to develop the whole child into a disciple of Jesus Christ, a great thinker, and a lifelong learner.

This new mission statement communicates more accurately what we are doing here at Sacred Heart School–bringing our students to friendship with Jesus Christ, who is the source of all goodness, truth, and beauty. Our classical curriculum prepares students to be great thinkers and lifelong learners, people who will ask questions and bring about change in our world. This is the type of education that has produced countless great leaders, inventors, scientists, writers, philosophers, theologians, physicians, lawyers, artists, and musicians over the centuries.

School Canceled Due to Illness

Due to high numbers of staff and student illnesses, Sacred Heart School will be closed Thursday, March 16, and Friday, March 17.

Students Raise Money for CCHS

One way our students celebrated Catholic Schools Week was by giving back in a big way through a school-wide penny war, which raised over $250 for the Copper Country Humane Society! Last week LeRita Allert from the CCHS stopped by with her friend Diesel to visit our students and accept a check from our winning class, Mrs. Jorgenson’s kindergarten and grade 1 students. Great work, everyone!

Jump Rope/Hoops For Heart Success

Our annual Jump Rope/Hoops For Heart fundraiser service project was another big success! We came very close to meeting our goal of raising $2000 for the American Heart Association. Top fundraisers for each class were Edward C. (Young 5), Madi and Lily F. (K/1), Mathew R. (2/3), Johnny J. (4/5), and Emily J. (6-8). Top jumpers and hoops shooters were Jordi D., Landon M., Sammi C., Mathew R., Keegan R., Canon G., and Dean M. Three students were also recognized for donating some of their own money: Ivan J., Canon G., and Mathew R. Great work, everyone!

Catholic Schools Week

Thank you to all who supported and participated in our Catholic Schools Week activities in any way! Please check our Facebook page for pictures of the majority of last week’s events.

TV6 Canathon

Monday, November 14, was the kickoff of our participation in the TV6 Canathon. Students are encouraged to bring in nonperishable food items, which will then be donated to our local St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. Last year we collected 500 pounds of food! Our goal this year is to surpass that amount.

Bishop John to Visit

Bishop John Doerfler

Bishop John Doerfler

Bishop John Doerfler, the 13th bishop of the Diocese of Marquette, will make his annual visit to our school this coming Wednesday, October 12. Our students always look forward to visiting with our chief shepherd! Family members and parishioners are invited to attend Mass with the bishop at 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church.
